Occuptional Therapy
The practice of occupational therapy means the therapeutic use of everyday life occupations with persons, groups, or populations (clients) to support occupational performance and participation.
Occupational therapy allows people across their lifespans to do activities they want to and need to do. The primary goal of occupational therapy is to enable people to participate in everyday activities, which include self-care, work, and leisure. An occupational therapist will assess your everyday life situation and based on that will develop an individualized goal that allows the client to resume their valued occupation.
Every child is different, and all parents want their children to be successful in their lives. A child’s day is made up of several activities including playing, socializing with others, and getting dressed, etc. People generally don’t think about the child’s occupation until they face challenges doing it. Occupational therapists work with children who have challenges participating in their daily life activities. Those challenges may be due to autism, ADHD, developmental delay, injury or many other conditions.
There are many ways occupational therapy may help your child. For example, helping a child who has attention challenges to succeed in school, helping a child with a developmental disability to get dressed, helping a child with autism to interact with others, or helping a child to use a tool such as a crayon or a pencil, etc. The core of occupational therapy is to promote participation. Occupational therapists evaluate children with difficulties through interviews, observation, and assessment and develop goals that are important for the child. The parent and the therapist work together on an individualized treatment plan to improve or maintain the child’s ability to perform everyday activities. We offer the following services —
